None of your Beeswax

Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I got stung by a bee.

Twice.

Once, when I felt something prick my back. And again, when I reached towards it.

Ouch.

So obviously, I sped home and did a funny little panic dance in the elevator (I'm pretty sure the man in there with me was slightly freaked out) and broke into tears and wailed like an infant when I got home. Now, 36 hours later, I cannot find the sting on my back. And the one on my finger... its a pathetic excuse for a bee sting - can't even pass for a mosquito bite.

... Well.

Chronicles of the Cute Little Brother "M&M"

I'm pretty sure you guys derive lots of story inspiration from all types of things. Little tidbits of your everyday lives, movies, songs, books, friends and family. Everything and anything can serve as a great inspiration for writing fiction - as long as you open your mind to it. Sounds cheesy, but totally necessary.

Anyway, there are always those little events brighten up your day. Today, my family and I were reminiscing about the ol' times during dinner. And then our discussion drifted towards my lil' bro... For the sake of privacy, let's give him the alias "M&M".

He was always a cheeky little monster. And by God, he never listens. My mom gave a few examples:

Scenario 1:

[At the grocery store, in the section where they sell knives.]

Mom: M&M, don't touch the knives! You'll get a cut.

M&M: Ooh, shiny!

*touch*

Ouch!

*finger starts bleeding*

Mom: *sighs*

Scenario 2:

[In the kitchen, Mom is cooking dinner. The Little Cheeky Monster ambles in, looking bored.]

Mom: M&M! Stay away from the boiling water. It can give you a nasty burn!

M&M: Okay.

*touches boiling water*

(Ends up crying and holding an icepack to his finger for the rest of the evening.)

Scenario 3:

[Our family is eating dumplings for dinner.]

M&M: Before I used to suck at using chopsticks, but now I'm good!

Mom: Don't drop the dumplings!

M&M: *insulted* I won't 'cause I'm good with chopsticks.

*drops a dumpling on the table.*

(Gives Mom a doe-eyed look.)

- - - THE END - - -

So, that's all I've got. How about you?

Any funny/inspirational family stories you'd like to share? And to what degree do they influence your story?
